WEBSITE GONE - HERE IS WHAT WAS THERE WITHOUT THE PHOTOS
Moving for Peace is a group of people who have joined their energies in the name of peace. It is about DOING. Some people walk, some dance, some ride their bikes. Other people do peace work. You may choose whatever you wish to do, and then let us know so that we can add your miles or hours to the running total.

PREVIOUS ACTIVITIES
PEACE CORNER AT SCHOOL FAYRE 4 JULY : Founders Sue, Linda, and Charlotte had a very successful Peace Corner at a local school in Leeds on the 4th of July 2009. We were invited to participate in a School Fayre held at The City of Leeds High School, Hyde Park. We made many excellent contacts with teachers who were invited from other schools and those from the school itself, as well as parents and children. We gave away World Peace Flame tea light candles and printed literature about the World Peace flame, which was created 10 years ago. We also gave out literature about the upcoming World-Wide Picnic for Peace (see above), about our work, and a variety of cards and leaflets on activities anyone can do for peace. It was a lovely event and we will no doubt get many invitations to do our peace assemblies in the coming years.
The Concord Interfaith Peace Service : This annual service was held in Leeds UK mid-October 2008 and brought together people from all faiths to light candles from the World Peace Flame. This annual event reminds us that we are all joined in our wish for peace.

As Gandhi so eloquently said :
BE THE CHANGE YOU WISH TO SEE IN THE WORLD
Moving for Peace - began as Walking for Peace!
Moving For Peace is a grass roots organisation for anyone who wants to join with others to help create Paradise Earth. It is about being counted.
Please click on Moving For Peace and read the following two entries there - How to get Involved, giving detailed instructions for you to be part of Moving for Peace, and Things you can do to Promote Peace, a flyer about peace activities that you can freely copy and give out to others. You will also see a mile/hour count as well as read in the archives how we got where we are, including the first weblog at Walking For Peace
We have been working together for peace as a group since the summer of 2005, but each person associated with Moving for Peace has been doing their own peace activities for decades. The initial Walk for Peace was very successful and it continues today, but there are other things people are doing to promote peace.
Each participant in the Walk for Peace received a certificate and a World Peace Flame tea light candle. Current participants can send in their activity and receive a certificate. CDs with school assemblies are available -- just contact Linda

Something else you can do -- give the gift of a loan to someone who needs money to help them survive. Go to Kiva who provide the means to do this. "Kiva's mission is to connect people through lending for the sake of alleviating poverty."
